CEED works with volunteers to carry out projects across Sunderland. All practical work – at schools, community centres or public spaces – carried out by CEED, is done so using local volunteers led by an experienced project officer.

Work includes a wide variety of gardening and conservation type tasks including creating footpaths, ponds, raised beds, tree planting, herb spirals and fencing. No previous experience is necessary as full training is given. You just need to enjoy working outdoors for the benefit of the local community.

Individuals volunteer for a variety of reasons:

  • to learn new skills
  • gain work experience
  • help their local community
  • and for the social side too
  • and it’s also good for your health

The benefits of ‘green exercise’ are widely acknowledged with working outdoors proven to be beneficial to both physical and mental health.

Whether you just want to give some of your time, learn new skills or gain experience for a career please get in touch to find out more. CEED’s volunteer group currently goes out twice a week. Tea, coffee and biscuits always provided.
