CEED is looking for new project ideas and partners and is keen to welcome new volunteers and potential new trustees. If you have ideas or time to give, please do come to see what we do and have an informal chat with us

CEED has a vacancy for a temporary, sessional worker to deliver practical gardening and conservation tasks with volunteers.  If you enjoy working outdoors, are experienced in using a range of hand tools and can train others safely in practical tasks then please see our job ad:

illuminating tale!

Tues 25th October: The Spooks Train
Hop on board for monstrous story stops. Every station has a spooky tale to tell!
Outfit Theme: Ghosts.

Tues 1st November: Glow In The Dark Stories
With Halloween disappearing, some ghouls are still glowing! Grab a lantern and enjoy an
illuminating tale!
Outfit Theme: Monsters.

Every Thursday during the 6 weeks of the Illuminations you can find CEED down at RokerPods for some hands on free family activities.

Come along early, before the big switch-on to try your hand at our crafts and treasure trails.

Crafty Crafts
From 3.00pm come and have a go at our easy to do crafts. Each week there will be a different make-and-take. From willow wands to your very own crown. All you may need to fight off pirates and dinosaurs.

Terrific Treasure Trails
From 3.30pm, another chance each week to try out your riddle solving skills. Can you follow the clues and earn your treasure?

Free Family activities at RokerPods to get you geared up ready to enjoy the Illuminations.

CEED are organising some great sessions to give families even more fun before you delve into all the Illuminations has to offer.

TERRIFIC TREASURE TRAILS

Find us at the Pods from 3.30pm to collect your own Trail sheet. Follow the clues, solve our riddles and see if you can earn your treasure reward! The same trail will be in use for the first 3 weeks with a new trail up from Tues 18th October. Watch out for Sea Monsters…

SUPER-DUPER STORYTELLING
From 4pm join Popples Tale’s for fun interactive tales, themed on the park’s illuminations themselves! Each week will have a different theme – why not get into character with the suggested outfit themes!

Tues 27th September: Tales at Teatime
Children’s stories inspired by mad goings on of Alice in Wonderland.
Outfit Theme: Mad Hatter’s Tea Party.

Tues 4th October: Dino Tales
Step back in time to meet some cheeky characters destined for giant steps!
Outfit Theme: Safari/Explorer.

Tues 11th October: Pirates aboard!
Hooks at the ready, it’s a pirates life for me! A treasure chest of tales.
Outfit Theme: Pirates!

Tues 18th October: The Enchanted Lake
The Pixies have danced out from the trees to sprinkle magical tales across the pond. Wings and
wands at the ready.
Outfit Theme: Pixies/hobbits/fairies.

We are very excited about our new programme of free family fun down at RokerPods. For the 6 weeks whilst the Sunderland Illuminations are on we will be at the Pods on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons.

Come along to our free sessions, running between 3pm and 5.30pm (please see Events info for specific timings) to give that extra slice of fun before the switch on

On Enchanting Tuesdays see if you can follow our very clever clues along our seafront treasure trail – look out for Sea Monsters!popples-fiverr-intro-2

Also, enjoy some family friendly tales with storytelling by Popple’s Tales. Six weeks of fun interactive stories from Popple’s Tales, themed on the parks illuminations themselves! Join Popple every Tuesday teatime from 4pm at the Pods to get your imagination running before the lights switch on.

Tip-top Thursdays give you a second chance each week to try our Trails. There will also be some fab hands-on crafts. We will have easy to do make-and-takes including willow wands and leaf crowns.

All the sessions are free thanks to funding from the Coastal Communities Fund Round 3 and support from Sunderland City Council.

 

 

We are sneaking one more great family activity into the summer holidays. Join us in Roker Park for a fun trail – follow our map, search out the clues. Can you finish our jigsaw challenge.

This is the last activity as part of CEED’s Walk, Rest & Play for Wellbeing project. Funded by the Newcastle Brown Ale fund at the Community Foundation, the project provided opportunities to get people out and about into local parks.

We loved the handmade lighthouses – so lets make some more. Free family activity. Come along to the Pods to see how creative you can be.  Its our last session of the summer alongside Roker Pier and Lighthouse
